HITS-UK Medical is a "not-for-profit" organisation that promotes and assists medical research and academic pursuits. Currently focussing on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, HITS-UK Medical has software that will help clinicians and patients to better manage their COPD condition. COPD affects over 1 million people in the UK and it accounts for over 7% of sickness-related absence from work. By 2030, the World Health Organisation predicts that it will be the fourth leading cause of human mortality worldwide. COPD is one of the most expensive and difficult diseases to manage, causing heightened anxiety in patients and increased use of resources in the health care provision.
